The First Amendment of the United States Constitution reads:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
This single sentence, which allows for the greatest freedoms ever to exist in history, is by far the most powerful text ever devised by a handful of people, the American Founding Fathers. The wisdom derived from these simple words even challenges the collective knowledge of some of the most sacred religious writings ever to exist. I am in constant awe of the power which emanates from just the First Amendment’s very concise meaning because, among other things, it places the burden of oversight of elected officials on the people who elected them. Whatever the topic may be about, the American people are free to let their issues be heard in which ever capacity they choose, and this brings me to my mission statement.
The aim of my blog, first-and-foremost, is to encourage dialog about a host of topics ranging from politics and religion to pop-culture and entertainment. Now more than ever it is important for people to talk amongst themselves to help bring about solutions to global problems such as the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as, the complex dynamic between the United States and Russia as it relates to the small democratic state of Georgia. Globally, everyone has a stake in the future of the United States, for we are a key player in virtually every country of the world. So, it makes sense that the people of the US would have a forum in which to debate.
In closing, welcome to my blog! I will do my best to post regular entries so you will in turn visit often. While you’re here, please, make yourself at home and tell me what’s on your mind because I am interested in what you have to say. I hope you at least find my thoughts interesting and informative.
Warm Wishes,
Richard Cloer
